The source is Natural Earth — Admin 1 states and provinces, 1:10m, version 5.1.1. Natural Earth describes its Admin 1 layer as beta; country coverage, boundary vintage and hierarchy vary. Two supported country profiles—South Sudan and the State of Palestine—have no matching divisions in this snapshot.

Mapped-area estimates are calculated from generalized polygon geometry for visual comparison. They are not government land-area measurements. Population, income, literacy, school attendance, infant mortality and income-distribution values are not shown for these divisions until comparable, dated sources are verified.
